The Zoo Med Reptisun 10.0 UVB T5 HO (High Output) Lamp is designed to emit UVB over a full 20/51 cm range from the surface of the lamp. This feature helps to prevent or reverse metabolic bone disease in reptiles, compared to the Reptisun 5.0 lamp which has a recommended distance of 12"/30 cm. The Reptisun 10.0 lamp is optimally suited for use with larger terrariums, where greater than 12" of UVB penetration is required.
Additionally, the Reptisun 10.0 lamp is recommended for use above screen covers, as these can filter out up to 50% of the UVB wavelengths. The inclusion of UVA wavelengths in the lamp's spectrum helps to increase appetite, activity, and induce reproductive behavior in reptiles.
